Eight points “Kathmandu (Thimi) Declaration” has been declared by First International Mother Language Journalists Conference

Kathmandu. Demanding preserving of Mother Language journalism and Journalists First International Mother Language Journalists Conference held in Kathmandu has declared eight points Kathmandu (Thimi) Declaration. Journalists from South Asia region demand to declare birth anniversary of first mother language journalist of Nepal Dharmaditya Dharmacharya as an International Mother Language Journalism Day. They call on governments and all stakeholders to take initiation to develop, preserve and promote mother language journalists and journalism globally. First International Mother Language Journalists Conference organised by National Forum For Newar Journalist in support with SAARC Journalist Forum and Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Journalists held in June first and second 2024 demanded it to all governments and stakeholders of respective countries. President of NFNJ Nripendra Lal Shrestha, President of SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama from Nepal, General Secretary of SJF Md Abdur Rahman from Bangladesh, SJF India Chapter President Anirudha Sudhanshu, likewise Journalist leader of Bhutan and member of SAARC Journalist Forum Kenley Dema have signed the declaration and demanded all respective governments and stakeholders to take the declaration seriously to be implemented. First International Mother Language Journalists Conference was inaugurated by Former President of Nepal Bidhya Devi Bhandari and closing session by DPM and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha. Conference has been concluded in the presence of more than 50 journalists from abroad and 100 journalists from Nepal. Surendra Bhakta Shrestha President of organizing committee of conference told that declaration will be submitted to head of governments and stakeholders for its implementation. Sunil Maharjan vice president of NFNJ said that this historical conference of mother language journalism is continuity of previous conferences and it will adopt the legacy of those conferences on mother language journalism held in 2018 and 2022.

SJF and NFNJ met DPM and Foreign Minister of Nepal Narayankaji Shrestha

Kathmandu. Representatives of SAARC Journalist Forum, SJF and National Forum For Newar Journalist, NFNJ today met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal Narayankaji Shrestha. President of SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama, President of National Forum For Newar Journalist Nripendra Lal Shrestha, Senior Vice President Sunil Maharjan and Coordinator of organising committee of First International Mother Language Journalists Conference Surendra Bhakta Shrestha were present in the meeting. In the meeting they discussed on upcoming International Mother Language Journalists Conference. Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha has been invited as a Chief Guest of valedictory program of International Mother Language Journalists Conference and he accepted it. SAARC Journalist Forum and National Forum For Newar Journalist are jointly organising the International Mother Language Journalists Conference in Kathmandu coming June 1st and 2nd, 2024. The organising committee is doing all the preparation of conference seriously. In the conference more than 100 journalists from South Asia will participate and will do widely discussions on challenges, opportunity and possibilities on Mother Language Journalism.

President of SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama, Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman and President of SJF Nepal Chapter Prakash Silwal expressed their humble tribute to Pandit and heartfelt condolences to the family members.

SAARC Journalists Forum congratulates newly appointed Minister of State for Information, Mohammad Ali Arafat

Dhaka. Mohammad Ali Arafat MP has been appointed as the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in the newly formed cabinet of Bangladesh.

Mohammad Ali Arafat was elected Member of Parliament from Dhaka-17 Constituency in the 12th National Parliament Election held on January 7. Before that, he was elected a member of parliament in the eleventh national parliament by-election.

Besides, he is a syndicate member and chief advisor to the board of trustees of the Canadian University of Bangladesh. He founded the Suchinta Foundation.

SAARC Journalist Forum condemns against attacks of journalist in Azad Kashmir

Kathmandu/Dhaka. The attack on journalist Shujaat Iqbal is a negation of democratic values. Such attitudes are strongly condemned by Raja Naveedul Rehman Secretary Finance SAARC Journalist Forum International Chapter Saudi Arabia and General Secretary Pak United Media Forum Saudi Arabia.

This incident is less to be condemned by the head of SAARC Journalist Forum International Chapter Saudi Arabia and Chairman Pak United Media Forum Saudi Arabia Abid Shamoon Chand.

President Arshad Ali Ghori, senior journalist Irfan Malik, senior journalist Zeeshan Haider and journalists of SAARC Journalist Forum International expressed serious concern on behalf of Pakistan United Media Forum and SAARC Journalist Forum after the attack on journalist Shujaat Iqbal of Pakistan.

The increase of such incidents in Azad Kashmir is a cause for concern, in this regard, SAARC Countries Journalist Forum International Chapter Saudi Arabia head Abid Shimoun Chand said that this is a very sad incident, which can be condemned as much. We strongly condemn the attack on free press in Azad Kashmir.

The first convention of Nepal Chapter of SAARC Journalist Forum will be held in Lumbini

Kathmandu. Rudra Subedi, a member of the Nepal Chapter, has been appointed as the coordinator of the conference preparation committee and Mohammad Arif Ansari as the co-convenor for the preparation of the first session of the Nepal Chapter of the SAARC Journalist Forum. The first convention will be held in Lumbini province.

President of Nepal Chapter Prakash Silwal informed that the Zoom Meeting of Nepal Chapter held in the presence of International President of SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama and General Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahman decided it.

“The first convention of Nepal Chapter of SAARC Journalist Forum will be organized in Lumbini Province. For its preparation, Subedi, a member of Nepal Chapter, has been designated as coordinator and Ansari as co-coordinator. The date and place of the convention will be decided within a few days,” Silwal said.

Chairman Silwal said that in the first convention, members of Nepal Chapter and international journalists will participate in the conference, which is expected to be a starting point for discussions about the role played by SAARC Journalist Forum for the national and international issues, problems and solutions of journalists.

SAARC Journalist Forum released press statement on Israel Gaza Conflict and urge for UN and International Community to ensure an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

“SAARC Journalist Forum call on U.N. Security Council, the U.N. Secretary General, and all world leaders to ensure an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories to prevent further harm to civilians,” said in the statement released by SAARC Journalist Forum.

SJF further said, “At least 19 journalists, who are civilians under international law, have been killed in the first 10 days of the war, most of them in Gaza. The escalating conflict has resulted in the deadliest week for journalists in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

“SAARC Journalist Forum condemn on inhuman attacks on journalists and civilian in Gaza and urge to ceasefire immediately with needed humanitarian assistance and establish peace in the region,” stated in the press statement released by SAARC Journalist Forum President Raju Lama and Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman.

SAARC Journalist Forum expressed solidarity in the ongoing sit-in in front of Kantipur Publications

Kathmandu. SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF), Nepal Chapter has expressed its solidarity with the movement organized by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) against the series of professional insecurity and humiliation of working journalists in Kantipur Media Group. The team led by President of Nepal Chapter Prakash Silwal has expressed solidarity and support in the ongoing sit-in in front of Kantipur Publications premises at Thapathali today. Secretariat member of Nepal Chapter Madhav Prasad Tiwari and member Shyam Tandukar also participated in the sit-in. In the big media house of Nepal like Kantipur, the working journalists are fired against the law, they are transferred to places where there are no posts and they are not given salary and service facilities according to the law even in the face of Dashain festival.
